- Nominations for 2009 Student of the Year now being accepted
Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2009 Walter P. Murphy Cooperative Engineering Education Student of the Year. This esteemed award will be given to a graduating senior who has exceeded the expectations of the employer – providing excellent contributions and dedication to the on-going success of the company. The winning student will receive a cash award and a plaque, to be presented at the McCormick graduation convocation in June, 2010. The student will also be nominated for Co-op Student of the Year in nationwide competitions sponsored by the Cooperative Education Division (CED) of the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) and the Cooperative Education and Internship Association, Inc. MCD at Midwest ACE Annual Conference
From August 2 - August 4, the McCormick Office of Career Development was represented at the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers Annual Conference in Lombard, Illinois. This conference brought together over 200 professionals in collegiate career services along with human resources professionals from various regional employers. This year's conference theme, "Business NOT as Usual", focused on providing workshops and round - table discussions in areas which included social networking, model internship/co-op programs, practices for diversity/inclusion, and effective organizational leadership. Tory Johnson of Women for Hire was the featured endnote speaker for the conference.
- McCormick Office of Career Development at iBIO
On March 18th, the McCormick Office of Career Development was represented at iBIO IndEx, the 2009 industry expo of the Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization. The mission of iBIO is to make Illinois and the surrounding Midwest one of the world's top life sciences centers: a great place to do business, and a great place to grow new technology ventures. The industry expo provided networking opportunities with biotech leaders, panel discussions regarding career opportunities in biotech, and presentations regarding current research in nanotechnology and ag based biomaterials.
